About
I am fascinated by both history and Christian theology, and the areas where they come into conjunction are those to which I am particularly drawn. Early Christianity is one passion; another is the reception of the theology of this early period in later periods, especially in the work of theologians in 19th-century England. I am currently researching the history of the laity’s involvement in church life through “consensus fidelium,” as well as co-editing a book on the Receptions of Newman’s life and writing by later authors.
Courses I currently teach
• Church History I: From the Formation of the Church to the Reformation
• Church History II: From the Reformation to the Present
• Anglican History from the Reformation to the Covenant
• The Anglican Tradition of Reason: Butler, Newman and Farrer
• Christian Origins
• Varieties of Early Christianity (Advanced Degrees Program 2010)
• Classics of Anglicanism (Advanced Degrees Program 2011)
